Engineering Design Practice Highlights - EML 4024
Guided Projects
Project Details :Conveyor Belt

-
Parts provided to create Conveyor Belt Assembly.
-
Using SolidWorks Motion Analysis, Solid body Contacts, Gravity, and Linear Force was applied to create motion.
-
Largest challenge with this project was executing the correct Solid Body Contacts.

Project Details :Desmodromic CAM

-
Parts provided to create Desmodrimic CAM Assembly.
-
Using SolidWorks Motion Analysis, Solid body Contacts, Linear Motor, and Rotary Motor were used to create motion.
-
Interesting tools include: Hinge mates & Cam mates.

Project Details :Packaging Machine
-
Six different parts provided to create Packing Machine Assembly.
-
Using SolidWorks Motion Analysis, Solid Body Contacts, Gravity, 4 Linear Motors, and a Linear Spring were used to create motion seen.
-
"Event Based Motion" was used to create the timed motion sequence. Featuring 6 different tasks that included proximity sensors, time delays, and a motor turn on/off.
-
This project was by far my favorite featured in the class. I found that Event Based Motion is extremely interesting and I enjoyed problem solving the trigger points and time delays to create a full story.

Project Details :Falling Box
-
5 Parts were created from scratch using given dimensions, and put into a final assembly.
-
Using SolidWorks Motion Analysis: Gravity, 3 Solid Body Contacts, and 2 Linear Motors were applied to create motion seen.
-
Event Based Motion was used to have the red box trigger the green proximity sensor to open the teal sliding lid.
